Grading Scale

This blog will be focused on review of every book I read. I tend to read about 10,000 pages a year which translates to about 20 books. I will finish the book write a review and post it as soon as I can.

This is an explanation of the grading scale I will be using on this blog.

Each book will be given points based on three criteria. These will be added up for the final score.

The criteria are:

Emotional - Will look at the emotional impact of the book. This will include personal feelings about the book and how they might affect the reader. This will also take into consideration things of beauty within the book. Those passages that strike a reader as enjoyable outside the scope of the book will rate highly in the emotional category.

Intellectual - Will be based on its intellectual impact. This will take into consideration how educational it will be, but also the writing style and intellectual engagement.

Long Term - Will be an attempt to see how the book stands in the long run. In most cases I will try to guess where a book will stand in 50 years. It's originality and individuality will play heavily in this category.

Each category will be given up to 4 points for a total of 12 points. A final extra point can be added to any category that I feel the book excels in. The final total will be out of 13 points.

Of course this is all based on my findings and feelings. Feel free to comment on any review and let me know what you think.
